Number of Households Renting in U.S. Higher Now than at Any Other Point in the Last 50 Years

A new report by Pew Research Center has found that more U.S. households are currently headed by renters than at any point since at least 1965. The total number of households in the United States grew by 7.6 million between 2006 and 2016, while during the same decade the number of households headed by owners remained relatively flat. This is said to be due to the lingering effects of the housing crisis.
